Digital agency Meredith Xcelerated Marketing (MXM) hired Roald van Wyk as its first chief creative officer.
In the new position, van Wyk will be tasked with creative leadership of over 130 employees across the U.S. and serve as a member of the agency’s executive leadership team. He will be based out of MXM’s New York headquarters and report to MXM president Georgine Anton.
“Roald’s appointment as MXM’s chief creative officer signals our commitment to delivering industry-leading creative solutions across all platforms,” Anton said in a statement. “With his superior expertise in digital strategy, mobile design and user experience, Roald is the ideal leader to unify MXM’s diverse digital and content capabilities. He also brings a strong history of collaboration and developing creative solutions that solve business problems for clients across a wide range of industries.”
Van Wyk arrives at MXM following nearly two and a half years as a group creative director at SapientRazorfish, where he worked with clients including Mercedes-Benz, Clinique, Walmart and Trojan. He also established SapientRazorfish’s connected content studio and served as national connected content lead for the past five months. Before joining SapientRazorfish, van Wyk served as group creative director for FCB Global, executive creative director for Berlin Cameron and chief marketing officer for Tone, a New York-based communications company which brought broadband to previously unconnected communities in Southeast Asia, India and Africa.
“MXM places tremendous value on the power of creativity to transform business, van Wyk said in a statement. “With so many touch points, brands need to tell cohesive stories that are based on a single smart idea and supported by reliable data. There is no other agency that is in a better position to do this for brands than MXM, which is backed by powerhouse publisher Meredith.”
The arrival of van Wyk as its first chief creative officer isn’t the only noteworthy leadership hire for MXM this year. Back in June, MXM hired Lisa Charlebois as executive creative director and tasked her with overseeing the agency’s Los Angeles creative department. The following month, the agency brought on former Y&R CEO Tom Sebok as chief client officer.
