Edelman hired Thomas Crampton as global chair of its Edelman Digital practice, which employs more than 700 globally, effective in January.
Crampton will be based out of London and report to Edelman president and CEO Richard Edelman.
“Digital is a central pillar of our communications marketing strategy and has been responsible for half of our growth over the last decade, with global business lines including community management, digital customer service, influencer engagement and performance marketing,” Edelman said in a statement. “Thomas’ consulting background will now allow us to go deeper on the strategy side, extending from communications into helping our clients transform their businesses through digital.”
Crampton arrives at Edelman from Ogilvy, where he served as global principal for global consulting for nearly two years. Before that, he spent approximately four-and-a-half years as global managing director for Social@Ogilvy, leading more than 1,500 social media experts across over 60 territories. He formerly spent more than 15 years as a correspondent for publications including The New York Times, International Herald Tribune and Asia Times.
