The 10 Most Watched Ads on YouTube in August

August was a strong month for athletic ads, with sports stars anchoring six of the 10 spots on Adweek and Google's YouTube Ads Leaderboard—including three of the top four.

The motorbike stunt rider Robbie Maddison and soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo led the way in ads for DC Shoes and headphones brand ROC by Monster, respectively. Jordan Brand, Gatorade and Tommy Hilfiger all used sports celebrities to crack this month's list, too—Gatorade twice with ads starring J.J. Watt and Peyton and Eli Manning.

Elsewhere on this month's list, Leaderboard regulars BuzzFeed/Friskies and Old Spice made their returns, and Lexus and Quaker rounded out the group.
