Baglivo Exits Saatchi After Long Run

Plans to start brand consultancy

Mary Baglivo's long run at Saatchi & Saatchi has ended.

Baglivo, who most recently was chairman and CEO of Latin America and multicultural, is leaving the Publicis Groupe agency after more than eight years. She joined as New York CEO in October 2004 and in 2008 added the role of CEO of the Americas.

On Baglivo's watch, the New York office added accounts such as Wendy's, JC Penney, Miller Lite and Chase Sapphire and joined Kraft's creative roster with the addition of brands such as Kool-Aid and Capri Sun. Two of the biggest wins, however—Wendy's and JC Penney—eventually left the agency.

Baglivo shifted to the Latin America role in August 2012, when worldwide CEO Kevin Roberts made Durk Barnhill CEO of New York. Barnhill previously had been president of the New York office of Taxi.

In a statement today, Roberts noted some of Baglivo's personal and professional accolades, adding, "She accomplished this all with flair, determination and grace."

Baglivo plans to launch a strategic consultancy that will target brands at mid-sized and private-equity-backed companies.

To fill the Latin America role, Roberts named Cynthia McFarlane, who had been president of Saatchi Latin America and CEO of Hispanic market shop Conill. As a result of the move, McFarlane will join Saatchi's worldwide executive board. She'll continue to be based in Miami.
