Calling All Champions: Adweek and Adcolor Seek Nominees for Champions Award

Nominate leaders who reach back and foster new, diverse talent

Headshot of Lisa Granatstein

As we announced last fall, Adweek and Adcolor have expanded our long-term partnership by publishing and celebrating the inaugural Champions list, which will honor those in marketing, media and tech who are committed to mentoring junior talent by “reaching back.”

Honoree profiles will be published in print and online April 15, followed by a luncheon celebration on April 17 (more details to come).

Here’s more about the Champions Awards, and how to submit your nominees:

About Adweek + Adcolor Champions Award

The Adweek + Adcolor Champions Award is a celebration of 15 marketing, media and technology leaders who are growing and promoting diversity and inclusion both inside their company and in culture at-large. With hard work and a revolutionary attitude, these Champions are catalyzing meaningful change by reaching back and fostering new, diverse talent.

Together, Adweek and Adcolor will select and recognize the year’s most influential decision-makers. The awards will be curated to represent the best in diversity and inclusion, from the actions of these leaders to their policies, campaigns, initiatives and outcomes.

To qualify for the Champions Award, leaders must meet three criteria:

  1. Catalyze
Leaders must create initiatives, campaigns and other projects to enhance diversity and inclusion, either internally or in their industry or the culture at large. These initiatives should be focused on nurturing junior talent by “reaching back.”
  2. Influence
Leaders must demonstrate broad cultural awareness and influence. Leaders must clearly support diversity and inclusion through marketing, advertising campaigns and/or internal initiatives, including company values, employee retention, policies, etc.
  3. Reach Back
A key qualification is that leaders “rise up, reach back.” The Champions Award are not only leaders of diverse backgrounds but also are allies who uplift and empower people in marginalized groups. Leaders must demonstrate how they reached back to build up diverse groups—for example, this may be through involvement or leadership in a company internship, academic fellowship, mentorship program or talent-acquisition program meant for diverse candidates.

Please send no more than 500 words (can be bulleted) that illustrate how your nominee exemplifies a Champion based on the above criteria.
