eBay Hosts Benefit Auction

ActZero, a Burlingame, Calif.-based interactive infrastructure company, and the Internet auction site eBay have created a benefit sports memorabilia auction tied to Saturday’s East-West Shrine football game.

During the game, the nation’s oldest college all-star football contest, visitors registered at www.tv.ebay.com will be able to bid on items such as a trip to this year’s Pro Bowl in Hawaii, and proceeds benefit the non-profit Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.

Actzero allows advertisers to interact with their audiences through a television or personal computer.

“We were intrigued by the … technology because it could provide us with both the interactivity and immediacy of auction results that we were looking for to expand and enhance our trading platform,” said Jim Davis, vp of marketing and new business for eBay.
