After leading Facebook’s Creative Shop for the past seven years, Mark D’Arcy’s role has expanded as he moves into the position as the platform’s vp of global business marketing and CCO. He takes over for Sarah Personette, who left the social giant to become the COO of Refinery29 last fall.

D’Arcy will maintain a significant presence at Facebook’s Creative Shop and will also oversee marketing functions for the global business. He will co-lead the team with Carolyn Everson, Facebook’s vp of global marketing solutions. Global creative director Andrew Keller will lead the day-to-day at Creative Shop in the interim.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to lead our global business marketing team. The role is a natural progression of what I love to do—helping businesses tell great stories,” said D’Arcy, who will report to David Fischer, vp of business and marketing partnerships at Facebook. “It’s an exciting challenge to develop new marketing programs and tools for all businesses—from the world’s most established brands to small businesses and entrepreneurs—that use our platforms to grow.”

“We’re delighted to welcome Mark to this new role,” added Fischer. “I’ve had the pleasure of watching him transform Facebook’s role in the creative community over the last seven years. He’s a proven leader and talented storyteller who will bring a vital perspective to our business marketing programs.”

D’Arcy joined Facebook in 2011 after a seven-year stint at Time Warner’s global media group as CCO. In 2012, he established the platform’s Creative Council, an agency outreach program designed to bring the agency creative community closer to the brand.

Before Time Warner, the New Zealand native spent the first 15 years of his career as a writer and creative director at agencies around the world. In addition to his work at Facebook, D’Arcy sits on the Adcolor board.
