London Standout to Fill Long-Vacant Post
LOS ANGELES–Foote, Cone & Belding’s San Francisco office has reached across the Atlantic for an executive creative director, filling a post that has been vacant for two years.
Rooney Carruthers, 41, will move into the position this spring from a similar post at WCRS in London. Carruthers succeeds Paul Wolfe, who left FCB in 1998.
“Having Rooney Carruthers join us is a very significant event in the unfolding future of this office,” said Geoff Thompson, chairman and CEO of the office and creative director worldwide. “He’s a tremendously gifted creative leader, and there’s a large ‘Wow!’ factor in attracting someone of Rooney’s stature and accomplishments.”
The hire relieves Thompson of the ECD duties he has been handling.
Steve Neely has been handling the day-to-day creative leadership at the office since last April as deputy executive creative director. He maintains that title, but will focus on his other duties as head of broadcast production.
Prior to WCRS, Carruthers worked at Bartle Bogle Hegarty, London, on Levi Strauss & Co. FCB is a Levi roster shop in the U.S., handling Dockers and Slates. K
