Ford vp and chief brand officer Musa Tariq is departing the company after a little over a year in his role. CMO Joy Falotico will take the reins of the company’s brand work.
“Musa is a proven leader of brand transformation, having led similar work at some of the world’s most admired brands before coming to Ford, and he is a leader known for creativity and social media expertise,” said Jim Hackett, Ford president and CEO, in a statement.
Hackett continued: “Over the last year, he has been helping to drive the same transformation at Ford. We are grateful for his service and will carry on the work he has started.”
It’s unclear why Tariq is leaving the company, as a Ford representative did not immediately respond to a request for further comment. Tariq joined Ford in January of 2017. Before that, he served as Apple’s global marketing and communication director for retail.
This is the second major executive to depart the company recently. Last month, Raj Nair—formerly the North American president of Ford—left the company due to “inappropriate behavior.”
