A OfficeMax Mulls 2 Shops
CHICAGO–OfficeMax has sent out proposal requests for its $20 million dot.com business, sources said. Separately, the Shaker Heights, Ohio, retailer is considering Doner in Southfield, Mich., and Publicis & Hal Riney, Chicago, for its $60 million bricks-and-mortar account [Adweek, Jan. 17], sources said. Incumbent Campbell-Ewald Advertising is not participating in the reviews. Doner in December did interim work for the company’s dot.com account.
A Euro RSCG Bests Burnett for Airline Alliance
CHICAGO–The Euro RSCG Worldwide network won a shootout for advertising responsibilities for the unnamed airline alliance consisting of Delta Air Lines, Air France and Aeromexico, sources said. The other contender for the business was Leo Burnett, which handles Delta’s $100 million global advertising account. Euro RSCG’s Paris outfit won Air France’s $39 million business last year. Billings for the alliance’s account were not disclosed.
A Bomb Factory’s Fenske Visits O&M
CHICAGO–Mark Fenske, freelance creative director of the Bomb Factory, is at Ogilvy & Mather here for two weeks as a “visiting creative director.” O&M’s global creative director Rick Boyko hired Fenske for the stint that began Jan. 17. Boyko and Tom Hall, Chicago’s executive
director, have been crafting a succession plan for Hall’s retirement.
A CIA CPM Ropes in Wrangler’s Media
CHICAGO–Wrangler has assigned its estimated $20 million media account to CIA CPM here, sources said. Agency and client officials could not be reached for comment. Media buying had been handled by The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va. Toth Brand Imaging in Concord, Mass., handles creative for the Greensboro, N.C.-based client. Toth won the account in November last year, following Wrangler’s decision to move its creative from Martin to a smaller shop.
A Organic Revamps Chrysler’s Site
DETROIT–Organic, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., which landed the DaimlerChrysler interactive assignment last summer, has revamped the automaker’s Web site to include new alliances with AskJeeves.com and Kelley Blue Books, the pricing service for new and used cars.
A Thomas Joins TFA as COO
CHICAGO–Craig Thomas was named chief operating officer at TFA/Leo Burnett Technology Group. In the new position, Thomas will work at integrating TFA with its parent company, Burnett.
A Leagas Delaney Tapped by MVP.com
SAN FRANCISCO–Leagas Delaney has been named lead agency for MVP.com’s estimated $50 million account and is putting final touches on the company’s launch campaign, slated to break this week. Sports celebrities Michael Jordan, John Elway and Wayne Gretzky are helping operate the Chicago-based sports-apparel retail site. They have already generated publicity to set the stage for Leagas’ national campaign
