A FCB Restructuring L.A. Operations
LOS ANGELES–FCB Worldwide officials are close to announcing a restructuring of the agency’s four Southern California offices. Options include combining some or all of the offices in Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. An agency executive said FCB is “reviewing options that best suit the needs of our clients and staff, and we hope to have our structure finalized soon.”
A Hartnett, Padberg Promoted at Phelps
LOS ANGELES–The Phelps Group promoted industry veteran Joe Hartnett to chief integrated marketing officer. Hartnett will work with the Santa Monica, Calif., agency’s various disciplines and client-based teams. Formerly, Hartnett served as coach of promotions and alliance marketing. Nancy Padberg will take over as promotion marketing coach and vice president.

Etown.com tapped Ground Zero, Marina del Rey, Calif., to design a national ad campaign highlighting the online consumer electronics information and shopping source. Billings are estimated at $15 million. … Children’s clothing retailer Gymboree selected Blazing Paradigm, San Francisco, to design a national ad campaign promoting its apparel and accessories. Billings were estimated at $4-8 million. There was no incumbent.
A Reviews Roundup … Subway Media to 3
Subway narrowed its $60 million national media planning and buying review to three agencies: MediaCom, TN Media and Western Initiative Media Worldwide. Sources said the final round will consist of presentations before a committee of Subway franchisees. The Milford, Conn.-based client will make a decision in mid-February. A separate review for the creative portion of Subway’s business will be decided by mid-March. … Creditcards.com narrowed its search to four finalists. They are: Asher & Partners, Los Angeles; DanaForan, San Francisco; DGWB, Irvine, Calif.; and Robert Chandler & Partners, Beverly Hills, Calif. Select Resources International, Los Angeles, is the consultant. … Four agencies are in the running for b2bstores.com’s estimated $15 million account. The Long Beach, Calif., purveyor of goods and services for the business market will decide within two weeks among Grey Advertising, Los Angeles; RiechesBaird Advertising, Irvine, Calif.; WongDoody, Seattle; and Moss/Dragoti, New York, said a source close to the review.
A Lipin, Norton Join Adweek
LOS ANGELES–David Lipin and Justin M. Norton have joined Adweek’s editorial staff. Lipin, 32, worked previously as a metro reporter for the Los Angeles Daily News. He will be covering agencies in the Los Angeles area. Norton, 28, a former Associated Press reporter, was named Adweek’s San Francisco bureau chief.
