Kimberly-Clark Names Lead Marketer

BOSTON Household products giant Kimberly-Clark said it has hired Anthony Palmer for the newly created position of chief marketing officer.

A company representative said Palmer would be responsible for instituting an enterprise-wide focus on marketing to drive all aspects of the company’s business. Kleenex is probably the client’s best-known brand. Palmer will report to K-C’s chairman and CEO, Thomas Falk.

“[Tony] will lead the development of world-class strategic marketing capabilities at K-C by ensuring customer, shopper, chooser and user insights drive all aspects of our business,” Falk said.

Palmer was most recently managing director U.K. for Kellogg. Before that, he was with Coca-Cola Company USA, in marketing and general management positions with the Minute Maid division and also served as regional director for Coca-Cola in Australia.

Dallas-based K-C spent close to $285 million annually in measured media last year and $150 million through the first seven months of 2006, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus. WPP Group’s JWT is the client’s lead agency.
