Here is the chance to work for a client that brings Web technology to one of the world’s oldest professions: the death-care industry.
The company’s site,, is operated by Coral Springs, Fla.-based Heaven’s Door Corp. and provides links to every service needed for planning funerals–from chapels and florists to a company that will launch loved ones’ ashes into outer space.
Heaven’s Door is looking for an advertising agency to handle its $5 million account, said Jack Clarkson, senior vice president, marketing and sales. The ideal shop would “understand the sensitivity of the industry,” Clarkson said, and have strong public relations, Internet and multicultural capabilities.
Clarkson said he would like to break ads by the end of March. “We’re looking for a national spokesperson, someone who’s very conservative and very trusted, [such as] Tom Bosley or Alex Trebek.”
The ads will promote only the HeavenlyDoor service, Clarkson said. “Funeral companies don’t advertise,” he added. “You can’t say, ‘Die now, get a discount funeral!’ ” –Emily Fromm
