Livescribe Taps T3 as Lead Agency

Livescribe, the developer of the Pulse smartpen that digitally captures handwritten notes, has selected Austin, Texas-based ad shop T3 as its full-service lead agency after a review, the client has confirmed.

Neither the agency nor the client would disclose annual billings, but sources said they would surpass $5 million. Other contenders were not disclosed.

The assignment covers brand marketing strategy, creative and media services.

Livescribe was founded in 2007 and created a proprietary digital note taking system that links audio recordings to handwriting on paper. Since its launch in 2008, the device has won numerous awards, including MacWorld’s Best of Show in 2009.

Commenting on the agency selection, Livescribe senior director of marketing Eric Petitt said, “T3 brought a deep understanding of our customer and product, a strong and strategic creative direction, a tenacious media team, and a clear interest in our product and mission.”

T3 CEO Gay Gaddis described the shop’s selection as an “incredible win. Livescribe had the option of selecting separate media and creative partners, but … they awarded us the entire business. That speaks volumes about their confidence in our holistic approach and strategic thinking.”

T3 will handle the account out of its San Francisco office. Livescribe is based in nearby Oakland, Calif.
