Magna Global Enlists Hollywood Vet

LOS ANGELES Hollywood veteran Cathy Tankosic has joined Interpublic Group’s Magna Global Entertainment as an evp, tasked with finding new ways to create branded entertainment content across multiple media platforms.

This marks the first executive appointment by Bill Hilary since he was named Magna’s president last August. The move also underscores the increasing importance agencies and clients place on having in-house content creation capabilities.

In her new role, Tankosic, who has worked in svp positions at Comedy Central and MTV Networks, will also help solicit new businesses and expand Magna’s existing portfolio, the company said.

“Cathy has a unique skill set, in that she has extensive marketing, advertising, creative management and digital experience. I am thrilled that she has joined our team,” said Hilary.

From 1991 to 2004, Tankosic worked at Comedy Central, rising to the position of svp, director of marketing and creative. In that role, she rebranded the channel, managed the brand across all lines of business and launched and supported all channel series and franchises including Chappelle’s Show, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and South Park.

In 2005, Tankosic joined MTVN, where she served as svp, head of marketing and creative for the Urge digital music store. Most recently, she served as a marketing consultant at CBS.

Tankosic started her career at USA Network in strategic planning before moving on to Financial News Network and then joining Comedy Central.

“I look forward to working with our clients to create dynamic branded entertainment experiences that resonate with consumers and deliver a great return on investment,” Tankosic said.
