MRM’s Mclaren Promoted to CEO

Succeeds Bill Kolb

Michael Mclaren has proven he can handle MRM//McCann’s top job: A year after he was named president of the global digital marketing and relationship management agency, he’s been promoted to chief executive.

He replaces Bill Kolb, who was given the job of global chairman, CEO of a new McCann Worldgroup General Motors account group last May.

Mclaren joined MRM//McCann in 2012 as president of its U.S. operations. He was appointed worldwide president last May at the same time former McCann Erickson North American president Hank Summy joined MRM//McCann. Summy is now president of the agency in North America and its global commerce practice and will continue in that role, the company said.

Mclaren, a native Australian, first joined McCann Erickson San Francisco in 1999 as a worldwide account director on Microsoft and then moved to New York in 2004 as McCann Worldgroup’s director of global accounts. He was named president of McCann Erickson USA in 2007 and two years later moved to Japan in the dual role of CEO of McCann Worldgroup Japan and regional president of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific.
