With racy new ads showing exotic locales now taking flight for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Arnold Communications’ Melissa Lea is herself sailing away.
The senior vice president of business development is taking time off next month for a cruise. No, she hasn’t been swayed by the spots, which bowed last week on ABC’s Who Wants to Millionaire. And while the ads aim for young-at-heart adventure seekers by featuring images of parasailers and moped riders at dreamy locations in Egypt and Rome, that’s not why Lea is going either.
She is redeeming a prize.
RCCL notified agency executives that it had won the creative account in November and invited them aboard a ship then docked in Boston to celebrate.
More than 100 staffers turned out for the lunch and business cards were collected for what turned out to be a drawing.
Much to her surprise, Lea’s card was pulled. “I never win anything,” she said recently.
Among the places she’ll visit aboard the Voyager of the Seas, the cruise line’s newest ship, is Labadee, a private island in the Caribbean owned by the Miami- based client.
