We’ll take it as a sign of human resilience that, even in these hard times, people are more likely to see life as a journey than as a battle.
A poll by StrategyOne this month presented respondents with a list of “life metaphors” and asked them to pick the one that best fits their own life. “A journey” was the hands-down winner, garnering 51 percent of the vote.
“A battle” was a distant runner-up, at 11 percent. Also scoring in double digits as the most apposite life metaphor was “the seasons,” picked by 10 percent.
Fewer said their life is best characterized as “a novel” (8 percent), “a race” (6 percent), “a live performance” (5 percent) or “a carousel” (4 percent).
