Surprise! W+K Wins Grand Andy

Y&R follows with 4 golds

Settle in for what may be the least shocking awards season yet.

Wieden + Kennedy, Portland, Ore., breezed in to collect the $50,000 grand prize for its Old Spice “Response” campaign at the 2011 International Andy Awards, celebrated Thursday evening at the Times Center in New York. The agency won a total of eight trophies, including six gold.

That’s another feather in the cap for creative directors Jason Bagley and Eric Baldwin, the latter of whom jumps ship May 1 to join Gerry Graf’s new agency. Graf served on the jury for this year’s show, led by Big Spaceship’s Michael Lebowitz and co:’s Ty Montague.

Y&R came second with four golds out of eight prizes total. Euro RSCG picked up three gold and one silver. Leo Burnett and DDB picked up 10 and seven awards, respectively, but only one gold each.
