These Retirement-Ready Folks Think It’s Time to Quit Their Day Jobs in E*Trade’s Super Bowl Ad

30-second spot from MullenLowe ran in the second quarter

Meet some of the hardest-working people around in E*Trade's Super Bowl spot. E*Trade

Have you started saving for retirement yet?

It’s not something many people jump for joy thinking about, but E*Trade used its 30-second Super Bowl spot to show millions of viewers, in the most humorous way possible, what life could be like if they don’t get moving on saving for the future.

Enter the Silver Squad, a group of elderly folks who probably should have all retired by now, but are still hustling at 70-plus. They’re lifeguarding, firefighting and even DJing at the club on a Friday night. E*Trade’s spot showcases a slew of different occupations, all set to a new rendition of “Day-O.”

The spot, “This Is Getting Old,” ran during the Big Game’s second quarter. E*Trade’s agency of record, MullenLowe, handled creative.

“This is Getting Old” is an extension of E*Trade’s “Don’t Get Mad” campaign, in which the brand portrays absurdly extravagant lifestyles and suggests you could be living that life if you started to use E*Trade.
