Updated: Cemusa, Atlanta Cut Kiosk Deal

Cemusa has won a five-year contract with the City of Atlanta and General Growth Properties to manage the advertising on 100 new street vending kiosks in Atlanta. Plans are for 20 kiosks—selling food, beverages, periodicals and souvenirs—to be installed by the end of this year in prime locations near the World of Coke and Woodruff Park. Another 15 kiosks will be rolled out in 2010.

Companies will be able to place advertising on the back of the 10-by-6 foot panoramic kiosk, and on one or two backlit panels on the sides. Specifications will match Cemusa’s current newsstands in New York City.

“We’ve had great success with our newsstands in New York City and are pleased to be replicating a similar model in Atlanta, which not only allows advertisers to reach their audiences with corporate branding messages but with point-of-sale messages for items being sold in the kiosks,” said David Askew, vp of sales and marketing for Cemusa North America.

The new deal expands Cemusa’s presence in the U.S., where it manages street furniture advertising in New York, Miami-Dade County (Fla.), Boston, and New York. The New York contract is considered the largest street furniture contract in the world comprised of 3,300 transit shelters and 330 newsstands.
