Using their noggins

FableVision Studios is producing animated shorts for Noggin, a 24-hour educational network backed by Nickelodeon and the Children’s Television Workshop.
The offerings, “Cecile and Her Very Own Universe” and “Swamp Dog,” consist of two to three minute segments that will be sprinkled throughout Noggin’s programming beginning this spring, said FableVision vice president Paul Reynolds. The pieces are based on stories by his twin brother and partner, Peter Reynolds.
The segments aim to spark the creativity of 6-12 year olds. For example, Cecile, a 12-year-old living in a futuristic world, records a secret diary in her robotic dog.
Kids will be able to access the “diaries” at, the network’s affiliated Web site.
“Computers have become more like TVs, and TVs have become more like computers,” Paul Reynolds said. Interactive content will increase dramatically in the near future, he added.
Watertown, Mass.-based FableVision recently opened an outpost in Los Angeles to produce animated TV ads that use the Web to reach consumers. That office is seeking clients.
