Creative’s epic bike ride ends early and ugly

Last month, we posted a lengthy chat with Janeen McCrae, a veteran advertising copywriter who was prepping for a solo bicycle ride across the U.S. We're sad to report that just four days into her journey, McCrae was in a serious crash that left her with a broken wrist and a face out of Fight Club. Thankfully, she's otherwise intact and hopes to be back on the road soon. Reached by e-mail this morning, McCrae had this to say about her outlook on the project, aimed at raising more than $4,000 for charity: "What's next is to get back out there! My resolve hasn't changed—I still have the heart for it, and I still want to raise money. I was really starting to love it actually … right up until I stacked it." Also, she had this advice for any cyclist: "Always wear a damn helmet. That thing saved my life. And don't land in poison ivy if you can help it." If you'd like to ease Janeen's pain a bit, consider helping her reach her fund-raising goal for the Lance Armstrong Foundation by donating here.
