Being in a wheelchair hasn’t slowed down fashion model Jillian Mercado. Mercado, who was among this year’s Adweek Women Trailblazers, is one of the few women in modeling who are challenging fashion ideals while fighting for greater representation. Mercado talked about how she got her start in modeling, how she continues to fight for those with physical disabilities and the responsibility that goes along with it.

“It’s a huge responsibility, because you want to make it right for the 1 billion people who have always been invited to the cookout, but haven’t been able to eat,” she told Adweek’s Lisa Granatstein. “But there’s so much work to be done.” Watch above for their conversation.
