As the Covid-19 pandemic cancels summer travel plans for Americans, Stella Artois wants consumers to embrace the season at home with help from their “daydream” doubles.

The beer brand teamed with agency Pereira O’Dell to kick off the “You’re Never Too Far From the Life Artois” campaign with a music video that features people in their homes, slipping into a daydream state to participate in summer activities with their clones.

Paul Hunter, co-founder of production company PrettyBird, directed the 30-second “Summer Anthem” spot, which has cameos from Eva Longoria, Blake Griffin and Liev Schreiber.

The whimsical video, set to indie folk singer M. Ward’s cover of the song Daydream, depicts the summer personas persuading their doubles to take a break from work for dancing, piano playing, sunbathing and, of course, enjoying glasses of Stella Artois.

“While this summer looks different and calls for time apart, we were inspired by the power of music—the universal language that brings us together, whether with friends or even to oneself,” said Lara Krug, vp of U.S. marketing at Stella Artois, in a statement. “By combining song with the power of daydreaming, paired with an icy cold Stella Artois, we hope to transport our drinkers’ minds to savor limitless stories all summer long, no matter where they are.”

The spot will broadcast across U.S. networks, digital and in out-of-home installations.

The AB InBev brand’s new campaign also includes a partnership with Tripadvisor that invites people to take staycations.

Stella Artois and Tripadvisor will fund staycations for people who had to cancel summer trips.

The brands launched the Stella Staycation Swap, a contest matching travelers who planned trips to each other’s cities to trade itineraries and enjoy all-expenses-paid vacations in their hometowns. Consumers can enter the contest on Tripadvisor’s site by sharing itineraries that were canceled or delayed due to Covid-19.

Quarantine life and social distancing have impacted Stella Artois’ other campaigns, promotions and events since March. The brand encouraged consumers to get engaged in quarantine for a chance to win a free wedding, with one couple selected by Netflix’s Love Is Blind stars. And in London, the brand created Instagrammable street art to help friends social distance.
