James had a giant peach. SpongeBob had a pineapple. But some lucky link lovers will have them all beat when they drift off to sleep inside a giant wiener on wheels.
Today is National Hot Dog Day, and Oscar Mayer is celebrating by posting its iconic Wienermobile to Airbnb for a limited number of nights in Chicago this August.
“For the first time ever,” the Airbnb listing promises, “your wildest hot dog dreams can come true with a stay in our 27-foot-long hot dog on wheels.”
“We can’t think of a better way to celebrate National Hot Dog Day than to give hot dog fans what they’ve been craving: a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stay inside the most iconic hot dog out there by making it available to book on Airbnb,” said Matt Riezman, associate director of marketing for Oscar Mayer.
Alas, much like the Taco Bell’s branded hotel, The Bell, all availability was snatched up within moments of the sausage suite going live. But at least we can all still take comfort in knowing that someone in Chicago is living their best life between buns.
Here’s how a statement from the brand describes the VIP experience of staying in the Wienermobile: “Guests will relish in everything the vehicle has to offer, including a mini fridge stocked with Oscar Mayer hot dogs and all the Chicago-style hot dog essentials, an Oscar Mayer roller grill to take home, an outdoor space for comfortable hot dog eating and a custom Wienermobile art piece by local artist Laura Kiro. Given the cozy space is only big enough for two, it’s best if guests can at least agree on most things, like the fact that a hot dog is a sandwich.”
Sandwich standing aside, here’s the real question any hot dog lodgers will need to settle on in advance, especially in Chicago: ketchup?
