ABC News Partners with IJReview to Host GOP Debate

Marking IJReview’s first presidential debate.

IJReview, the 3-year old news startup, and ABC News have announced a partnership to host the New Hampshire Republican Primary debate. The debate, which will air live in primetime on the ABC Television network and WMUR-TV, is scheduled for February 6 and will be held at St. Anselm College.

“New Hampshire voters are independent-minded, they love their country and just plain enjoy discussing politics, and that means New Hampshire is truly IJ country,” said IJReview founder Alex Skatell, in a press release. “We’re excited to be in the First In The Nation state for our first presidential debate, and to partner with ABC News.”

The 2016 debate will not only mark the 100th year of the New Hampshire primary itself, but IJReview’s first presidential debate as well. The RNC has mandated that any TV news outlet hosting these debates include a “conservative element” within its production.

“Every day at IJReview we strive to creatively jump to the center of the ring where American politics is being played, debated and discussed. This partnership with ABC allows us 360-degree access to one of the biggest arenas in the game,” said IJReview Executive Editor Michelle Jaconi. “Before, during and after this debate, we plan to do what IJReview does best: engage more and more Americans in the political conversation – in a way that makes them want to share the news.”

Although the news website has yet to state its specific role in the upcoming debate — according to their press release — IJReview “will utilize its signature brand of mobile-first original content to expand the viewership of the New Hampshire GOP primary debate to millions of Americans beyond the traditional ABC News television audience.”
