ABC News, WaPo Partner to Reboot Web Series

ABC News has tapped The Washington Post to help revamp its daily, politically themed Web series Top Line.

The midday Webcast, which launched in 2009 on both ABCNews.com and the digital cable network ABC News NOW, will relaunch on May 10 as a co-branded series produced by both companies. In addition to mixing news, interviews with officials such as U.S. Senate Republican Mitch McConnell and analysis of the goings on in Washington D.C., “Top Line” will present a segment titled Post Politics, which will regularly feature various Washington Post staffers.

“By partnering with a trusted news brand such as ABC News, we are able to get some of our most recognized political reporters in front of new audiences and offer another innovative video feature to our readers,” said Kevin Merida, The Washington Post’s national editor.

The new partnership also involves distribution. Besides being available on ABCNews.com, viewers can stream the series on demand at WashingtonPost.com and its recently launched sister site PostPolitics.com. Other distribution outlets include iTunes, ABC News’ iPhone App and the network’s YouTube channel.
