Adele Sweeps The 2012 Brit Awards On Twitter, Too [INFOGRAPHIC]

2012 will be the year of Adele, if award shows hold any water these days. She won a whopping 6 Grammys earlier this month, and took home 2 Brit Awards this week. But just how is she utilizing Twitter to connect to her fans that have propelled her to musical super-stardom?

Fast Web Media examined the Twitter presence of the top five British singers and bands who were nominated for a 2012 Brit Award. They took a look at the basics, like number of followers and level of engagement, but also analysed just how these Twitter factors translated into sales.

Both Adele and Ed Sheeran – a previously unknown artist who found his fame through social media – won two Brit Awards, and swept the Twitter side of things as well.

The five artists that Fast Web Media looked at were Adele, Ed Sheeran, Professor Green, Jessie J and Coldplay.

Coldplay has the most followers overall, with over 5,700,000. Adele isn’t that far behind, though, with her 4,100,000, and Sheeran boasts a healthy 1,460,000.

Jessie J is the winner when it comes to engagement (measured by the number of replies, @mentions and retweets) with just under 400,000. The other four had between 100,000 and 300,000 engagement-type tweets to their names.

But it’s buzz where Adele really pulls ahead of the pack. Adele has a massive 5,000,000 “buzz” level, measured by the number of non-@ mentions. Next after her is Coldplay, with 2,000,000, then Jessie J with 515,000.

Adele also saw the most sales per follower and sales per engagement, while Ed Sheeran got the most sales-to-buzz ratio.
