I know the title doesn’t really say much, but it’s actually pretty important news.
Blackberry’s new 7″ tablet, the Playbook, is hitting the market today and Adobe was ready. The Adobe Content Viewer is now available for developers to use to display their apps on the Playbook. Some publishers have already released apps based on Content Viewer, including Reader’s Digest and Dennis Publishing. Do you recall the Wired app for iPad? That app is also based on Content Viewer.
With this new release, Adobe is now the first and only platform with viewers for iPad, Android and now PlayBook.
Of course, with the growing movement pushing towards a platform independent HTML5, these dedicated apps might not be very useful for much longer.
