AmazonLocal To Appear On Ad-Supported Kindle

In a move that makes a Kindle more like a smartphone, Amazon has introduced its AmazonLocal feature on Kindle with Special Offers in New York City.

What this means is that the ad-supported Kindle will now include deals at local businesses in New York City. So for example, readers can get coupons for such things as bike rentals in Central Park, cover charges for Dangerfield’s comedy club and lunch at City Winery.

Amazon launched the Kindle with Special Offers back in April. The Kindle is just like any other Kindle, except that it comes with ads. In exchange customers get $25 off, so the Kindle is $114.
