Angry Birds: Coming to a Stadium Near You

The crowd game will debut this weekend

So you’ve already conquered every level in the Angry Birds game, bought a few Angry Birds stuffed animals, have plans to see the Angry Birds movie, and can’t wait to enjoy some Angry Birds along with your daily Starbucks. Now, the game’s creator Rovio is giving you a new way to conquer the birds’ porcine adversaries—no finger-flicking necessary.

This weekend at the Formula One racetrack in Singapore, Rovio is launching an Angry Birds crowd game that can be played with live audiences. In the new game, which was created in a partnership with Singapore Telecommunications and Finnish gaming startup Uplause, audience members will be able control the bird-throwing slingshot on jumbo screens using their voices.

“We think this new form of gaming will give fans a great opportunity to form a strong emotional connection with the characters,” Rovio's marketing chief Peter Vesterbacka said in a statement.

If you can’t make it to Singapore this weekend, don’t worry. After the game’s debut this weekend, Rovio says that it plans to take the crowd game to the world’s biggest live events, like concerts and sporting events.
