Archos Arnova 8 Tablet Now Shipping

Archos’ new 8″ Android tablet is now available from J&R for $159.

This is a basic Android tablet that’s running v2.1 Eclair on an 8″ (600×800) resistive touchscreen with Wifi, speakers, microphone, 4GB Flash storage, and a microSD card slot. It doesn’t have a camera, Bluetooth, or access to the Android Market. But it does come from Archos and it’s running on a Rockchip CPU, which means it should have spectacular video ability.

If the specs aren’t good enough then you might want to wait a few months. Archos has promised an updated version of the Arnova 8 with a capacitive touchscreen, dual core CPU, and possibly an update to the OS.
