An online alter-ego to Omnicom-owned agency Fleishman-Hillard has emerged: Heishman-Flillard. PRNewser has reason to believe the alter-ego was created by former Fleishman employees.
So far “HF” has an active Facebook, Twitter and Youtube presence. Its Facebook page bio states, “Heishman-Flillard is a strategic global independent marketing communications agency that is broadly considered the most strategic, powerful and award winning tradigital force in public relations and social media in the universe.”
Agency PepperCom noticed the account, and co-founder Steve Cody wrote in a blog post, “The community knows it’s fake. One would have to be pretty slow on the uptake not to see it as an ersatz site. Again, I’d let it be unless, and until, something totally egregious or harmful to the F-H brand was being communicated.”
It certainly brings up the issue of how and if a brand should respond to such an impersonation.
We reached out to Fleishman-Hillard who sent us the following statement.
