Facing Facts can be found on Inside Feed, a new communications channel the social network created to share insight on how the company makes decisions and the people who are involved in those calls.
John Hegeman, Facebook’s head of News Feed, said in an Inside Feed post introducing the film that documentary filmmaker Morgan Neville spent “several months” with “key members” of the News Feed team at the social network’s headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., in making Facing Facts.
Hegeman wrote, “We wanted to try something different with this project. The challenges the News Feed team faces are complex, but it’s critical that people outside the company understand what we’re doing and why. So, we need to keep trying new, different ways to give people that context.”
Lyons wrote, “As we double down on countering misinformation, our adversaries are going to keep trying to get around us. We need to stay ahead of them, and we can’t do this alone. We’re working with our artificial intelligence research team, learning from academics, expanding our partnerships with third-party fact-checkers and talking to other organizations—including other platforms—about how we can work together.”
