Barclays Lowers Kindle Sales Estimates

Barclays analyst Anthony DiClemente Lowered his estimate for Kindle Fire sales this year from 18.4 million units to 17.1 million. DiClemente also lowered his estimate for Kindle eReader sales to 18.4 million which is down from his earlier prediction of 23.8 million.

Barron’s has more: “DiClemente also now thinks Amazon sold fewer Fires in the fourth quarter than previously imagined: he now models the company having shipped 5 million units versus 5.5 million previously, which he now says was ‘too aggressive’.”

The more modest number comes after Barnes & Noble released the $199 8GB Nook Tablet earlier this week. The new Barnes & Noble Nook has smaller storage like the Kindle Fire and comes with the $199 price tag, which competes more directly with the Kindle Fire.
