BBC Newsroom Head Mary Hockaday on Video Reporting for Web

BBC Newsroom head Mary Hockaday spoke with Beet.TV executive producer Andy Plesser at the London offices of The Guardian about how video news reporting is different for the Web.

Speaking about a report by BBC correspondent Rayhan Demytrie from the main square in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where violent anti-government demonstrations were occurring, Hockaday told Beet.TV:

She is our BBC reporter there, so multimedia, she files regularly for the BBC Kyrgyz service, but also for all of our outlets when there is a news story of interest to wider audiences, as now. It’s a reflection of the BBC’s commitment to foreign newsgathering that we have someone on the ground in places like Kyrgyzstan able to provide immediate, informed reportage and analysis.
