blackra1n iPhone OS 3.1.2 Jailbreak Software (Windows only)

I’ve never jailbroken my personal iPhone. But, I have worked with a jailbroken iPhone GS. The main reason for that adventure was to be able to project any arbitrary iPhone screen for a demo. A secondary reason became apparent when an app under development produced some quirky behaviors that could be worked around by deleting temporary files using another jailbreak app. This let us work with the current app rev while bugs were hunted and exterminated in that app. That experience gave me an appreciation of jailbreaking iPhone that I didn’t previously have.

Apple’s cat-and-mouse game with jailbreakers continues with the iPhone OS 3.1.2 release. Redmond Pie reports…

Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware with blackra1n

There are two caveats associated with this 3.1.2 jailbreak…

1. Do not upgrade to 3.1.2 if you want to keep your iPhone unlocked (able to use another GSM carrier like T-Mobile in the U.S.)
2.The blackra1n jailbreaking software currently only runs under Microsoft Windows

Caveat: Jailbreak your iPhone at your own risk. As I said, I have not jailbroken my personal iPhone. Nor do I plan to.
