Cable Network PR Chief On New Media: ‘There’s no way I can own a story anymore’

With a news cycle that gets faster and faster, PR executives are finding it harder and harder to keep up.

One industry that is a prime example of this is entertainment, where relatively new sites such as Deadline.com and The Wrap have jumped onto the scene in competition with stalwarts Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and The Los Angeles Times.

Things are moving so fast, PR executives have just about waived the white flag. Here is one quote that stuck out to PRNewser from a Variety story published over the weekend on the matter:

“There’s no way I can own a story anymore,” says the PR chief of one cable network, “I get the calls, issue my denials and run for cover.”

In the comments, we’ll review your guesses as to which network executive is behind the quote.
