Keeping Tabs on the Call of Duty Convention

In case you hadn’t heard, the video game that currently rules the world is being celebrated by means of a sold-out two-day event at The Stages in Playa Vista. Come Saturday night, tournament winners will have been announced, Kanye West will have performed and the 6,000 or so attendees will be buzzing about a preview of Modern Warfare 3, due in stores November 8.

One of the less obvious ways to virtually drop in on these gamer proceedings is the Twitter account of Robert Bowling. In yet another indication of just how popular the game is, the Thousand Oaks based strategist for Modern Warfare 3 developer Infinity Ward currently has over 200,000 followers:

The $150-ticket convention, which is also being broadcast on Facebook and, features a paintball area that duplicates one of the settings of the unstoppable first-person trilogy. Event proceeds are being donated to a charity that supports returning U.S. war veterans.
