Condé Nast Entertainment Hires Former Sony Music Exec to Grow Video Presence

Condé Nast Entertainment named Whitney Hill, a former Sony Music executive, as senior vice president of business development and strategy, the magazine giant announced on Wednesday.

The hire is effective immediately, and she answers to chief digital officer Fred Santarpia.

Hill is charged with developing the entertainment group’s digital content and distribution and expanding the publisher’s original video programming across its stable of 26 magazine brands.

“Whitney has assembled innovative global deals, involving multiple distribution partners and rights holders, that have created new monetization models and revenue streams,” Santarpia said in a statement.  “Her knowledge of the global marketplace makes her the perfect executive to help us grow and expand our digital businesses.”

Hill was most recently senior vice president, strategic partnerships, global digital business at Sony Music Entertainment, where she led negotiations on content deals and managed key partner relationships for the global digital distribution of the Sony Music repertoire.   Prior to Hill’s strategic partnerships role, she was responsible for corporate development and digital strategy at Sony Music.

Before joining Sony Music Entertainment, Hill served as director of domestic licensing at Twentieth Century Fox and a director of international television business development at Sony Pictures Entertainment in Los Angeles.

Hill began her career as a financial analyst at investment bank Greenhill & Company with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, financial restructuring and private equity investments.

Hill holds an International MBA from the University of South Carolina with a concentration on China and earned her BA in Economics and Government at Wofford College.
