The’s North American CEO Is Leaving After 16 Months

Jon Steinberg helped double ad sales revenue

Jon Steinberg, CEO of North America, is leaving the company, announced CEO and publisher Martin Clarke.

In the short time Steinberg has been with DailyMail—16 months—he has overseen the acquisition of Elite Daily and the launch of agency Truffle Pig, a joint venture with WPP and Snapchat.

"Jon has played a leading role in building our digital media assets in the U.S.," said Clarke, who added that the company's future growth will be organic.

"We have very amicably agreed that this does not play to Jon's passions and strengths in pursuing significant acquisitions and partnerships, and he has therefore decided to move on and find his next challenge," Clarke said.

Steinberg oversaw year-over-year revenue growth of 45 percent and the doubling of ad sales revenue for DailyMail's North American arm. It's part of the world's biggest English-language newspaper website that boasts more than 220 million unique visitors per month.

"It has been a fantastic period of growth for in the U.S," Steinberg said. "I thank Martin and my team for a great experience, building and innovating an advertising business that we are all very proud of."

Steinberg joined in June 2014 from BuzzFeed, where he was president and COO. He  will stay through the end of the year.
