The title of Gideon Resnick’s change.org petition clearly expresses the sentiment. It reads: Make Trump Apologize to Serge Kovaleski.
Resnick has set an itinial target of 500 signatures and there is little doubt that by the time the topic of Donald Trump’s latest transgression reaches the Thanksgiving dinner table, the mark will have been reached. Via Twitter, Kovaleski, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter with The New York Times, thanked his colleague for the petition:
@sergenyt You’re welcome. We’ve gotta keep pushing this asshole. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Kovaleski suffers from arthrogryposis, a condition that impairs the movement of his arms. The text of Resnick’s petition reads:
Presidential candidate Donald Trump mocked the physical handicap of New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski during a rally in South Carolina on Tuesday night. While I think many people would agree that Mr. Trump has a lot more to apologize than for just this, I figured it’d be a good start to formally request that he write a letter apologizing for these actions specifically.

Update (3:00 p.m.):
Trump has released a statement via Twitter explaining that in Myrtle Beach, S.C., he “merely mimicked what I thought would be a flustered reporter trying to get out of a statement he made long ago.”

Update (November 27):
The New York Daily News has pointed out that Kovaleski was part of a group of journalists that spent a day with Trump in 1989, covering the launch of Trump Shuttle.
