Dots the Way It Is at Slate

Slate wants its readers to play Connect the Dots. The site introduced its News Dots feature, which provides an interactive map that displays how the biggest news stories are connected together.

Subjects are connected to one another if they appear together in at least two stories, and the size of the dots is proportional to the number of times the subject is mentioned, Slate said.

Users can click on circles to see stories that mention the topic, and there is also a magnifying glass tool that allows users to zoom in and out and the ability to drag dots around if they overlap, according to Slate. David Cohen is editor of Adweek's Social Pro Daily.
