Facebook launched stand-alone application Events From Facebook on iOS in October, and an Android version was released this week.

Events From Facebook allows users to select the types of event categories that interest them, which will shape the recommendations they receive from the app.

Its home feed brings users information on events their friends are interested in and events they are already connected to, as well as quick lists for “tomorrow” and “this weekend.”

The app’s search tab allows users to search by category or time, in their location or other cities, and results can be filtered by category or time of day.

Finally, the calendar tab on Events From Facebook allows users to keep track of past and upcoming events they’re connected to. Users also have the option to import calendars from their phones into the app to view their Facebook events alongside their other events, and they can create new Facebook and calendar events from this tab.

The app’s description on its Google Play page reads:

Looking for something to do with friends this weekend? Want to know what’s happening tonight? Find events that match your interests and stay up-to-date no matter where you are.

All the things you love about events on Facebook are still the same, but with this app, you can have it all in one place. See the latest events activity, discover new things to do with friends and quickly get to event info. Events works seamlessly with Facebook, so your friends can see what you’re interested in and what you’ve invited them to, even if they don’t have the app.

  • Catch up on the latest events activity, events your friends have recently responded to and updates from hosts.
  • Find events happening near you on an interactive map and filter based on time and event category.
  • Get event recommendations based on what’s popular with your friends, things you’ve been to in the past and pages you like.
  • Choose to add calendars from your phone to see all of your plans in one place.
  • Opt-in to get notifications about your upcoming events so you know if details change.
