It was a bit of serendipity that led to CBS’ John Boehner get. The house speaker–who announced this morning he will be resigning from Congress at the end of October–was already scheduled to appear on the show in a pretaped segment to discuss the Pope’s visit and (possibly) impending government shutdown.
One resignation announcment and a scheduling change later, Boehner will be appearing live in the studio Sunday to discuss his resignation.
The CBS Sunday show is enjoying a run of good news. The show finished first in total viewers among Sunday political shows for the 2014-2015 television year. And just last week, the show had Hillary Clinton in her first Sunday show appearance in four years.
