Facebook is temporarily banning ads and listings on its platform—including on its Marketplace ecommerce destination—aimed at selling medical face masks.

The social network said in a Newsroom post that this move joins its earlier efforts to prevent people from making health or medical claims related to the coronavirus in product listings, including claiming that products will prevent people from contracting the virus.

Facebook added that it made a dedicated channel available for local governments to share listings that they believe violate local laws.
