Starting Wednesday, soccer fans on Facebook may start seeing animated messages atop their News Feeds encouraging them to show their pride in their favorite World Cup team with special profile picture frames. They are available for all 32 participating squads.
Adding specific phrases to status updates—such as “gooaal” or select cheers from the 32 countries that are playing—will unlock new animations. Facebook said these phrases can be activated by posting or commenting with them or tapping on them when highlighted.
Facebook Camera will include augmented reality stickers of players such as Spain’s Sergio Ramos, and some of the AR effects available via Messenger Camera will also be part of Facebook Camera.
