Facebook, Lala to Harmonize?

Can Facebook carry a tune? The answer may come soon, as a source told The New York TimesBits that the social-networking site will integrate online music service Lala into its gift store.

According to Bits, songs cost 10 cents apiece, or one Facebook credit, and they can be played online in perpetuity, with the option to download the songs and transfer them onto an iPod for 10 credits ($1).

Neither party would confirm the integration, with Facebook saying in a statement to Inside Facebook:

We recognize that sharing music plays an important role in how people stay connected and express common interests on Facebook. We are always talking with potential partners about new ways to provide users a richer experience on Facebook, but we don’t have anything to announce pertaining to music at this time.
