Big fans of Facebook’s new timeline profile design who also use WordPress may soon have a nifty template to play with.
Italian freelance Web designer Giuliano Ambrosio, author of blog JuliusDesign, created a template for blogging platform WordPress based on and inspired by Facebook’s timeline.
He said he does a lot of WordPress work for his clients, and developing the theme took him about 12 hours over this past weekend.
Ambrosio said he started with the Twenty Eleven 1.2 WordPress theme and modified it to suit his needs, adding, “I wanted to challenge myself to design the beautiful new layout of Facebook using the power of WordPress.”
On his motivation for creating the theme, he added, “My mission is to understand how powerful WordPress is. Many think it is a content-management system only for blogs, but it is more. I actually thought about creating a paid version [of the theme], but I think it will be free only, to experiment and study the layout and the CMS.”
Ambrosio said he hopes the Timeline WordPress theme will be available for download soon.
He added that he is attempting to contact Facebook Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg or the social network’s marketing department in order to pre-emptively avoid copyright problems, and saying, “I am very happy to have been mentioned on several blogs in Spain, France, and England. This is enough for me.”
